The Hood College women’s field hockey team opened MAC Commonwealth play with a 4-0 road loss to No. 29 Messiah University on Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Grantham, Pa. Messiah led 14-1 in shots and 13-1 in penalty corners.
Allison Wallin made four saves for Hood, which fell to 5-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Madeline Moreno recorded Hood’s only shot.
Messiah Builds Second-Half Lead
Lexie Zaring scored in the first quarter to give Messiah an early lead. Hood remained within one goal at halftime before Messiah added three goals after the break.
Ellie Lefever scored Messiah’s second goal, assisted by Lindsey Campione. Campione then scored with assists from Chelsea Carlisle and Lefever, and Lyndsey Gustafson completed the scoring in the fourth quarter with assists from Campione and Carlisle.
Messiah improved to 5-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Falcons also held a 13-1 advantage in penalty corners.
Hood Scheduled to Visit Alvernia
Hood is scheduled to play Alvernia University in Reading, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. The game is another MAC Commonwealth matchup.
