The Hood College women’s field hockey team defeated Juniata University 4-0 Wednesday evening in Frederick, Md., as Kymara Beijer scored her first goal as a Blazer. Hood College led 1-0 at halftime, increased its lead to 2-0 early in the third quarter, and added two goals in the fourth quarter.
Hood College builds on its lead
Madeline Moreno doubled the advantage in the third quarter, with Sydney Fleming providing the assist. The goal gave Hood College a 2-0 lead 10 minutes into the period.
Hood College added two goals in the fourth quarter. Anna Sheldon scored her first collegiate goal after Ellie Dainton’s shot was saved, and Emma Niese followed with her first collegiate goal to complete the scoring.
Hood College finished with 24 total shots and 15 shots on goal, while Juniata University recorded two total shots and two shots on goal. Hood also held a 14-5 advantage in penalty corners. Allison Wallin made two saves for Hood College, and Stringfellow finished with 10 saves for Juniata University.
Hood College schedules Delaware Valley University matchup
Hood College is scheduled to host Delaware Valley University Saturday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. The matchup will celebrate the team’s three seniors.
