Hood College Women’s Field Hockey Earns First Win Over Delaware Valley University with a 3-0 Shutout

Hood College women’s field hockey defeated Delaware Valley University 3-0 on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Frederick, Maryland, earning the program’s first victory over Delaware Valley. This win moved Hood to a 3-3 record, while Delaware Valley University fell to 2-3.

Before the match, Hood College honored seniors Lillie Kodrin, Natalie Badour, and Madeline Moreno. Moreno contributed a goal and an assist as Hood built a 1-0 lead after the first quarter, extended its advantage to 2-0 at halftime, and completed the scoring in the third quarter.

Hood College Women’s Field Hockey Builds Early Lead

Bianca Scally opened the scoring within the first seven minutes, converting a rebound to put Hood ahead 1-0. The Blazers maintained this early lead into the second quarter.

Madeline Moreno doubled the lead early in the second quarter after receiving an assist from Sydney Fleming. Moreno finished the match with one goal and one assist, while Fleming recorded one assist.

Anna Sheldon added Hood’s third goal in the third quarter with an assist from Moreno. Sheldon’s goal gave Hood a 3-0 advantage, and the Blazers held Delaware Valley scoreless through the final quarter.

Hood Records First Victory Over Delaware Valley University

Goalkeeper Allison Wallin faced zero shots in goal for Hood College, while Delaware Valley’s goalkeeper was credited with 17 saves. The match marked the first time Hood College’s field hockey team defeated Delaware Valley University. Hood’s three goals came from Scally, Moreno, and Sheldon, with assists from Fleming and Moreno.

Hood College is scheduled to play at Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, Sept. 23. The first whistle is set for 7 p.m.
