Hood College men’s soccer defeated Hartwick 3-1 on Sunday, Sept. 6, in Oneonta, New York, scoring twice after halftime to secure the victory. The result followed Hood’s loss to Oneonta the previous day.
N’Tony Kalala opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with an assist from Ryan Pinkel. Hartwick answered with 10 seconds remaining in the first half when Devin Chandler scored, sending the teams into halftime tied 1-1.
Hood College Men’s Soccer Takes Control After Halftime
Hood regained the lead in the 59th minute when Aiden Wright converted a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Chito Alvarez then scored in the 64th minute for his first goal for Hood, extending the lead to 3-1.
Hood led 10-2 in second-half shots. Hartwick played the remainder of the match with 10 men after receiving a red card following Alvarez’s goal, while Hood did not allow a corner kick in the second half after Hartwick earned five in the opening half.
Adam Labows Reaches Career Milestone
Adam Labows made two saves and earned his 11th career win. The victory moved Labows into the top five in career goalie wins at Hood.
Chandler recorded three shots for Hartwick in addition to scoring the Hawks’ only goal. Kalala and Wright each scored their second goals of the season, according to the game recap.
Hood College Men’s Soccer Hosts Washington College Next
Hood will host Washington College on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field. This match will be the team’s next contest.
