Hood College men’s golf finished second among 14 teams at the Berkleigh Challenge at Berkleigh Golf Club in Kutztown, Pa. Griffin Cansler placed second individually. Hood College secured its team finish by winning the playoff tiebreaker, while Albright won the team title by 15 strokes.
Cansler shot 72 in the first round and 74 in the second round. He shot 36 on the back nine in both rounds and birdied holes 17 and 18 in the final round.
Hood College Men’s Golf Gets Contributions Throughout Lineup
David Nuckolls finished ninth after shooting 71 in the first round. He recorded three birdies and an eagle on hole 5 in that round before adding three more birdies in the second round.
Caleb Dolan placed 20th after shooting 81 in the first round. He made a birdie on hole 10 and six birdies from holes 13 through 17 in the second round.
Eli Kane made his college debut, shot 160 for the tournament and recorded three birdies in the final round. He improved his first 18-hole total by eight strokes. Whitcomb finished the tournament with a 164 after making two birdies on the front nine in the first round.
Next Event for Hood College Men’s Golf
Hood College men’s golf is scheduled to compete in the first Battle of the Beltway outing on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Stevenson University will host the event at Pine Ridge Golf Club.
