Hood College Equestrian Team Opens Season at Goucher College as Sarah Wauls Qualifies for Regionals

The Hood College Equestrian team opened its season at a show hosted by Goucher College on October 3, 2026, in Towson, Maryland. Sarah Wauls earned the final points needed to qualify for Regionals after placing fourth in Intermediate Flat.

Wauls, a junior from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, also placed third in Open Fences on Goucher College’s Theodore after a re-ride from Goucher College’s Gerry. Her results led Hood College’s performances at the season-opening show.

Hood College Equestrian Team Posts Multiple Top Finishes

Maria DiPierro placed third in Intermediate Fences on Theodore and fourth in Intermediate Flat on Clever. Angelina Sotela placed sixth in Limit Flat on Amadeus and seventh in Limit Fences on Lucky.

Allison Smith placed fourth in her Limit Flat debut on Towson University’s Odie. Senior Emilia Alcala-Torrez placed fifth in Pre-Novice on Odie, while an unnamed first-year Hood rider placed sixth in a Pre-Novice debut on Hood’s Fiona.

Hood’s equine partners Jameson, Flower and Fiona were all in the ribbons during the show. The official Hood College account of the competition documented the team’s results.
