Hershey gets fourth straight win, beat Toronto 5-2

The Hershey Bears took on the Toronto Marlies Monday afternoon and got their fourth straight win beating the boys in Blue 5-2. On a power play, at 6:49, in the first period, Miro Aaltonen put Toronto on the board first with a quick shot glove side that found the back of the net to beat Phenoix Copley, making it 1-0 for the home team. 

It took until 4:22 in the second period for Hershey to answer back when Tyler Lewington shot a puck to the net that would be deflected by Tyler Graovac making it a tie game. Less than two minuets later at 6:16 in the period Jeremy Langlois would get his third goal of the season bring Hershey’s lead to 2-1. A power play goal at 10:39 in the middle period would give Hershey a comfy lead as Nathan Walker got his fourth goal of the season. There would be a sudden end to the second period for repairs to the venue along the boards and with 4:51 left in the second period both teams would head to the locker room. After an eighteen minute intermission, the remaining minutes of the second period were played and both teams switched sides to finish out the game.

Heading into the final period Hershey was ahead 3-1, but it took less than two minutes for The Marlies to come within one goal, as Rinat Valiev would bring the game to 3-2 on a short-handed goal at 1:52 in the final stanza. With less than two minutes in the game, Liam O’Brien would find the empty net twice to bring the Bears to a 5-2 win. Dustin Gazley would get an assist on each final goal as well as Goalie Phenoix Copley earning an assist on the final goal. Liam O’Brien’s two goals for the game would give him an AHL career high in goals, bringing his total to thirteen for the season.

Hershey’s record now stands at 22-25-3-4 while earning their first four-game winning streak of the season. The first place Toronto Marlies fall to 38-13-0-1. Toronto outshot Hershey 29-27, went 1-3 on the power play, and 3-4 on the penalty kill.

Hershey will be on the road again Friday night in Hartford to take on the Wolf Pack for a 7:15 game start!
