Harford Community College women’s soccer defeated Carroll Community College 3-0 on Sept. 10, 2026, at the Harford Sports Complex in Bel Air, Md., as Ami Walters scored twice in the Region 20 victory.
Harford led 1-0 at halftime before adding two goals in the second half. The win improved the Fighting Owls to 4-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in Region 20 play, while Carroll fell to 1-2-0.
Harford Community College controls the match
The Fighting Owls controlled possession and finished with a 25-5 advantage in shots. They also held edges of 14-3 in shots on goal and 6-1 in corner kicks.
Carroll goalkeeper Emma Jewell made several saves to keep the match scoreless through the early stages. Sydney McLaughlin recorded Harford’s first shot on goal in the 14th minute, while Jewell also stopped attempts by Macy Forest and Sydney Stoneback.
Harford had an opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot in the 26th minute, but McLaughlin’s penalty kick missed the target. Macy Forest eventually broke through at 42:55, scoring the opening goal and sending Harford into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
Ami Walters scores twice
Harford continued to create chances early in the second half. Victoria Mendez, Sydney McLaughlin, Sydney Stoneback and Annabelle Lathroum each tested Jewell during the opening 18 minutes after halftime.
Mendez assisted Walters on Harford’s second goal at 70:40. Walters then added a penalty-kick goal at 81:38 to complete the scoring.
“I took the ball from my right foot and I’m always going left,” Walters said. “This time I shot with my left foot and was able to tuck it into the corner. I had been in a rut lately, so I’m ecstatic to have been able to get my first collegiate goal in this game, let alone two.”
Walters finished with two goals on two shots on goal. Mendez recorded three shots on goal and one assist, McLaughlin had three shots on goal, and Forest finished with four shots, including two on goal.
Olivia Wollschlager preserves the shutout
Carroll generated pressure late in the match, with Camryn Gillis putting two shots on goal during the final eight minutes. Harford goalkeeper Olivia Wollschlager stopped both attempts and finished with three saves in 90 minutes to preserve the shutout.
Harford Community College was scheduled to visit Howard Community College in Columbia, Md., on Sept. 11, 2026, with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Harford Community College women’s soccer paired a decisive shot advantage with a clean defensive performance. Walters’ two goals provided the finishing touch, while Wollschlager’s three saves helped secure the 3-0 shutout.
“We want to come away with wins in our region because it primes us for the postseason,” head coach Rebecca Volk said. “We had the ball for much of this game and struggled [for a while] to convert. But that also means we are working hard and getting ourselves in the right position. So, I’m proud of them for creating chances.”
