Gunner Henderson hits for the Cycle and Other Prospect News

Last night Gunner Henderson gave himself an early birthday present by going 4-for-4 and hitting for the cycle in a 8-2 win over the Gwinnett Stripers. A single and triple off starter Tucker Davidson, a homer off Victor Vodnik, and finally a double off of Thomas Burrows. He’s now batting .329 with 5 homeruns and 15 runs batted in after 19 games with the Norfolk Tides. Bruce Zimmerman looked strong throwing six innings and striking out seven while only giving up one run on three hits. The other Tide player to go deep last night was Kyle Stowers who launched number 14 on the season off of Burrows. Despite going 0-for-5 with two stikeouts Jordan Westburg is still batting .342 in 17 games for the Tides.

The Bowie Baysox got three new call-ups to their roster yesterday as Colton Cowser, Coby Mayo, and Connor Norby. Cowser went deep in the third inning and finished the night 3-for-3. Norby went 1-for-4 and Mayo went 0-for-5. The Baysox beat the Flying Squirrels 9-3 and also had Matt Harvey picking up the win throwing five innings and striking out nine. Lastly Heston Kjerstad went 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to ten games. He’s currently batting .429 with one homerun and ten runs batted in in 13 games for Delmarva. The Orioles farm system now has eight of their top ten prospects according to MLB.com in the upper minors. It looks like the rebuild is in full swing going forward and fun and competitive Orioles baseball.
