Guard Zane Martin Asks for his Release From Towson University

Sophomore Guard, Zane Martin, announced yesterday that he is planning on leaving Towson University at the end of this spring semester. This news comes shortly after Martin declared for the NBA Draft with out an agent last week, which allows him the opportunity to continue playing in college should he choose. Martin released a statement on his personal Instagram yesterday that on top of declaring for the NBA Draft, he has asked for his release from Towson University.

In Martin’s two years in the Tiger program last season was by far his best. Martin was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA)  Teams. He was named MVP of the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic that took place in Ireland, and to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List. He averaged a team-best 19.8 points per game, which was good for third in the CAA. In addition to scoring double figures in 30 of the Tigers’ 32 games this season, Martin also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

He was a huge playmaker for the Tigers this year and his contributions will be greatly missed.
