McDaniel College men’s soccer remained unbeaten through four games Sunday, playing Methodist to a scoreless draw at the Soccer Complex in Westminster, Maryland. Gavin Yartymyk made six saves for the Green Terror, including three in the final 10 minutes.
McDaniel moved to 3-0-1 and earned its second shutout of the season. The Green Terror also extended their unbeaten streak in regular-season home games to seven.
Yartymyk Records Six Saves to Preserve Scoreless Draw
Methodist held a 13-5 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. Yartymyk saved all six Methodist shots on goal to record his second shutout in three starts.
Methodist recorded the match’s first three shots during the opening 11 minutes, with the third attempt hitting the crossbar. The visitors held a 7-2 advantage in first-half shots, but Yartymyk stopped both shots on goal during the opening period.
Yartymyk made four saves after halftime, including three during the final 10 minutes. He finished three saves shy of his career high, which he set in McDaniel’s season opener against Penn State Harrisburg.
McDaniel Men’s Soccer Prepares for Road Game at Goucher
Joseph Arthur played all 90 minutes for McDaniel, while Trevor Grodsky played all but 10 minutes. McDaniel was scheduled to play at Goucher on Wednesday in its first road game of the season.
The match was scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Beldon Field.
