Frostburg State University women’s wrestling earned two medals at the Under-20 Beach World Championships from Sept. 25-27. Amber Hunter-Snyder won silver in the 70-kilogram class, while Kamil Johnson captured bronze in the over-70-kilogram bracket.
Hunter-Snyder won four matches on the way to the silver medal, achieving the highest finish among wrestlers on the United States team. Johnson also reached the podium in her bracket.
Five Frostburg State wrestlers compete at Under-20 championships
Kenaya Mwehu, Elle Webster, Ella McDonald, Amber Hunter-Snyder and Kamil Johnson represented Frostburg State University at the Under-20 Championships. Mwehu and Webster competed in the 50-kilogram class, McDonald competed at 60 kilograms, Hunter-Snyder competed at 70 kilograms, and Johnson competed in the over-70-kilogram class.
The Under-20 competition was part of the Beach World Championships. Frostburg State University women’s wrestling placed competitors in four weight classes, with Hunter-Snyder posting the highest finish among the United States wrestlers.
Amber Hunter-Snyder places fourth on Senior World Series women’s wrestling team
Kenaya Mwehu and Amber Hunter-Snyder joined Bri Holcomb and Maria Hiles on the Senior World Series team the day after the Under-20 championship. Mwehu and Hunter-Snyder remained in their respective weight classes, while Holcomb competed at 60 kilograms and Hiles competed at over 70 kilograms.
Holcomb, Hunter-Snyder and Hiles each went 1-1 in the group rounds. Hunter-Snyder then won two knockout-round matches, finishing with three victories overall and placing fourth.
