Frostburg State University Women’s Volleyball split its season-opening doubleheader at the Shepherd Invitational in Shepherdstown, W. Va., on Friday, August 28, 2026. Frostburg defeated Chestnut Hill 3-1 before falling to Goldey-Beacom 3-0. The win marked head coach Chanel Davis’s first victory at Frostburg.
Frostburg State Volleyball began the season 1-1 and was scheduled to conclude the invitational Saturday against Shaw and Shepherd.
Frostburg State University Women’s Volleyball Defeats Chestnut Hill in Four Sets
Chestnut Hill opened the first match with a 12-7 lead, but Frostburg answered with a 7-2 run to tie the set at 14-14. The Bobcats moved ahead late and held on for a 25-23 victory in the opening set.
Chestnut Hill responded with a 25-17 win in the second set. Frostburg regained control in the third, winning 25-19, and then closed out the match with a 25-17 fourth-set victory.
Maya Johnson led Frostburg with 10 kills and 12 digs. The senior also recorded two aces and three blocks. Adele Evans and Gabrielle Morris each finished with six blocks and combined for 12 kills, while Pia White and Rhea Shetty recorded 14 and 11 assists, respectively.
Goldey-Beacom Sweeps Frostburg State Volleyball
Frostburg State fell behind early against Goldey-Beacom and lost the first set 25-21. The Lightning then pulled away for a 25-15 second-set victory before completing the sweep with a 25-18 win in the third set.
Frostburg trimmed a nine-point deficit to 16-13 in the third set, but Goldey-Beacom answered with six consecutive points. The Bobcats moved within four points at 22-18 before the Lightning closed the match.
Alliyah McNair and Johnson combined for 13 kills against Goldey-Beacom. Miranda Ball led Frostburg defensively with 13 digs.
Frostburg State University Women’s Volleyball Schedule
Frostburg State was scheduled to face Shaw at 3 p.m. and Shepherd at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 29, at the Shepherd Invitational. The team also was set to play Pitt-Johnstown, Walsh, and Shippensburg on September 4-5.
