Frostburg State University Women’s Volleyball defeated Davis & Elkins, 3-1, in a home match on Sept. 25 in Frostburg, Maryland. Alliyah McNair led the Bobcats with 16 kills and a team-high 16 digs for a double-double.
Frostburg State won the first two sets, 25-23 and 25-23, before Davis & Elkins answered with a 25-18 victory in the third set. The Bobcats closed the match with a 25-19 fourth-set win and improved to 5–8 on the season and 2–1 in the Mountain East Conference.
Frostburg State University Women’s Volleyball Wins Two Close Opening Sets
Davis & Elkins built a 19-16 lead in the opening set, but Frostburg State responded with seven consecutive points to move in front. Senior Grace Yocham added a kill, and McNair recorded an ace during the run before freshman Gabrielle Morris ended the set with a kill at 25-23.
The Senators led 18-15 in the second set before McNair delivered three consecutive kills to help Frostburg State regain a 20-18 advantage. Senior Judy Steffens, McNair, and Yocham added points late in the set, and a Davis & Elkins setting error gave the Bobcats another 25-23 win.
Davis & Elkins Extends Match Before Frostburg State Closes
Davis & Elkins took control early in the third set and held a 19-16 lead after Frostburg State narrowed the gap. The Senators scored five of the next six points to win the set, 25-18, and avoid a sweep.
The visitors moved ahead 3-1 in the fourth set, but Frostburg State answered with six of the next eight points. The Bobcats gradually expanded their lead, and kills from senior Raegan Philips, Maya Johnson, and McNair helped them finish the set, 25-19.
Alliyah McNair Leads Frostburg State University Women’s Volleyball
McNair led all scorers with 16 kills and also posted 16 digs. Emery Kuebler and Rhea Shetty recorded 21 assists apiece, while Kuebler added 10 digs and Miranda Ball finished with 14 digs.
Shetty also recorded an ace in a performance identified by the source as a career assist mark. Frostburg State earned its second consecutive victory, while Davis & Elkins fell to 0-16 overall and 0-3 in the Mountain East Conference.
