Frostburg State University Men’s Soccer played Virginia State to a 0-0 draw at home on Saturday evening, Sept. 26, 2026, during Senior Day. The result moved Frostburg State to 5-1-3, while Virginia State moved to 1-5-1 for the season.
Frostburg State recognized seniors Brian Gomez, Gabe Jones, Anthony Diaz and Hugo Portillo before the match. The Bobcats held a 19-6 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in shots on goal, but neither team scored.
Frostburg State Creates Chances
After 10 minutes, Brian Gomez recorded Frostburg State’s first shot, sending an attempt toward goal from the right wing that Virginia State goalkeeper Jake Taylor saved. Hugo Portillo later tried to chip Taylor from outside the box, while Anthony Diaz forced the goalkeeper to make a diving stop.
Freshman goalkeeper Julian Quirk also made a save in the opening half. Christ Fopossi, Abdallah Soulemana, David Williams and Inzaghi Harmon had several attempts for the Bobcats.
In the second half, Fopossi had three chances, including one blocked shot and another saved by Taylor. Frank Stare added two efforts, but neither team found the breakthrough before Williams sent the final shot high over the bar.
Frostburg State Returns to the Road
Frostburg State will play at Concord in Athens, West Virginia, on Sept. 30, 2026, at 4 p.m., following the scoreless Senior Day draw with Virginia State.
