Frostburg State Men’s Soccer drew West Liberty 1-1 on October 14, 2026, in West Liberty, W. Va., after sophomore Christ Fopossi scored the equalizing goal on a free kick. The result left Frostburg State at 6-2-5 overall and West Liberty at 6-5-2.
Fopossi Equalizes Before Halftime
West Liberty took a 1-0 lead 3 1/2 minutes into the first half when Ethan Nethery scored from the top of the box after a corner. Kevin Teather assisted on the goal.
Frostburg State created an early opportunity when junior Dom Good sent a header just wide of the post. West Liberty then threatened again, but graduate goalkeeper Josiah Emerson made a diving save to prevent a second goal.
Just before the half-hour mark, Good was fouled outside the box following a West Liberty giveaway. Fopossi converted the resulting free kick into the top-right corner to tie the match at 1-1. The goal was Fopossi’s second of the season.
Frostburg State, West Liberty Remain Tied
Frostburg State nearly took the lead before halftime. Sophomore Diego Peralta had a shot tipped over the bar by West Liberty goalkeeper Shai’ya Fitzgerald, while sophomore Frank Stare had a curling effort stopped by Fitzgerald.
The teams remained tied at halftime, and neither side created many opportunities early in the second half. Senior Anthony Diaz recorded Frostburg State’s opening shot after the break, but the attempt deflected off the top of the bar and went out for a corner.
Emerson finished with three saves for Frostburg State. West Liberty held an 8-6 advantage in shots, while both teams recorded three shots on goal.
