Frederick Keys Hit Four Home Runs to Defeat Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays) 8-3

The Frederick Keys defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays) 8-3 Saturday night at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium, securing a home series win. The victory came in the fifth game of the six-game series and marked Frederick’s third consecutive win against Bowling Green.

The Frederick Keys hit four home runs and won their fourth game of the series in front of 6,413 fans. After Bowling Green tied the game in the seventh inning, Frederick answered with a three-run homer and added another two-run shot in the eighth.

Frederick Keys Overcome Early Deficit

Twine Palmer started for the Frederick Keys and recorded three strikeouts during a scoreless first inning. Bowling Green scored the first run in the top of the third on a fielding error.

Vance Honeycutt tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning. RJ Austin followed with a two-run home run in the fifth, giving the Frederick Keys a 3-1 lead.

Four Home Runs Power Frederick Keys

Bowling Green scored twice in the seventh inning to tie the game at 3-3. Enddy Azocar put the Frederick Keys back in front with a three-run home run, his first home run at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium, to make it 6-3.

Braylin Tavera hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to extend the lead to 8-3. Braeden Sloan then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to secure the victory.

Series Finale Scheduled for Sunday

The Frederick Keys and Bowling Green Hot Rods (affiliated with the Rays) are scheduled to meet Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Sunday’s game is scheduled to include Sunday Funday at the Ballpark presented by Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley, pregame catch in the outfield and select player autographs during the first 30 minutes after gates open. The game also is scheduled to include the Summer Reading Program presented by Educational Systems Federal Credit Union.

The Frederick Keys used four home runs to overcome an early deficit and a seventh-inning tie against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Enddy Azocar’s three-run homer restored the lead before Braylin Tavera added insurance in the eighth.

Frederick has won four times in the series and three consecutive games against Bowling Green entering Sunday’s finale.
