Four 2026 Chesapeake Baysox Players Selected for Arizona Fall League With Peoria Javelinas

Four members of the 2026 Chesapeake Baysox will represent the Orioles organization with the Peoria Javelinas in the 2026 Arizona Fall League. Major League Baseball announced that outfielder Vance Honeycutt, utility player Brandon Butterworth and right-handed pitchers Pat Reilly and Braxton Bragg made the league’s roster.

The Arizona Fall League season is scheduled to begin Oct. 3 and conclude with the championship game Nov. 14. The 2026 Fall Stars Game is set for Nov. 8.

Honeycutt and Butterworth provide position-player representation

Brandon Butterworth played 52 games with Chesapeake in 2026 and appeared at center field, left field, right field, third base, shortstop and second base. He hit .269 with 10 home runs, 23 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.

Butterworth missed time on the injured list from May 12 through July 7. He hit .294 with a .954 OPS in his final 27 Double-A games before his promotion to Triple-A Norfolk on Aug. 14. Of his final 30 hits with the Baysox, 17 went for extra bases.

Vance Honeycutt joined Chesapeake from High-A Frederick on Aug. 18. In 20 games, he hit .288 with five home runs, seven doubles and 10 stolen bases. His .997 OPS led the Baysox during that stretch and ranked sixth among Eastern League hitters with at least 80 plate appearances.

Reilly and Bragg selected for Arizona Fall League play

Pat Reilly made eight starts with the Baysox in 2026 after recovering from Tommy John surgery. He went 0-2 with a 3.63 ERA in 39 2/3 innings and struck out 55 batters.

Reilly posted a 2.08 ERA and struck out 41 batters in 30 1/3 innings over his final six Baysox starts. He matched a career high with seven innings pitched and struck out eight in his Sept. 5 start against Portland.

Braxton Bragg spent the entire 2026 season on the Chesapeake injured list as he recovered from Tommy John surgery performed on July 30, 2025. His upcoming Arizona Fall League appearance will mark his first game action since his last Baysox start on June 28, 2025.

Before his injury, Bragg posted a 2.32 ERA in nine appearances, including eight starts, with Chesapeake, striking out 59 batters in 42 2/3 innings. His combined 1.68 ERA across all levels in 2025 ranked second in full-season Minor League Baseball among pitchers with at least 59 innings pitched prior to his injury.

MSB Analysis

The 2026 Chesapeake Baysox will have four representatives with the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League. The group includes two position players and two right-handed pitchers, with Reilly returning to competition after recovering from surgery and Bragg set for his first game action since 2025.
