Ex-Oriole’s Son to Sign with Orioles
Dalton Hoiles Expected to Sign Free Agent Contract with O’s
The son of former Orioles catcher Chris Hoiles was finalizing a deal with the O’s on Wednesday. Dalton Hoiles, who has spent his last four years at Shippensburg University playing the outfield for the Raiders, will be assigned to Short-A Aberdeen upon the finalization of the deal on Sunday.
When asked how he felt about the signing, he called it a “great moment” saying “it’s a special moment for my dad and I, being able to play for the team that he played on for 10 years.”
Hoiles was a standout at Shippensburg, where he hit .362 with 22 doubles, 10 home runs and 41 RBI’s in his senior season.
Hoiles also said of the signing, “I had always dreamed of this moment and now it has come to fruition.”
