D.C. United shuts out Seattle Sounders; recap: 9/22/19

D.C. United won their third game in a row and after entering Sunday night’s matchup with the Seattle Sounders in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, they left the Audi Field pitch moving up to fourth thanks to a 2-0 shutout. The Black and Red added a goal in each half in the win. Their record improves to 13-10-9 with 48 points.

D.C. United got on the board in the 14th minute with a strike from Lucas Rodriguez for his sixth goal of the season.

The Black and Red doubled their lead in the 54th minute from Frederic Brillant off a pass from Wayne Rooney. Off a free kick sent into the box by Rooney, Brillant was there to tap it in.

Bill Hamid got the shutout with four saves as D.C. United hung on for a 2-0 victory. Their next match is Sunday at 5 p.m. in New York against the Red Bulls.
