D.C. United Permanently Transfers Forward Jacob Murrell to Falkirk Football Club

D.C. United permanently transferred forward Jacob Murrell to Falkirk Football Club of the Scottish Premiership on Aug. 21, 2026. The Baltimore native joined D.C. United as the seventh overall selection in the first round of the 2024 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas.

Murrell played in 65 matches across all competitions for D.C. United, scoring four goals and recording five assists. He signed a three-year contract through 2026, with an option for 2027.

Jacob Murrell27s D.C. United Career

Murrell signed with D.C. United on Jan. 12, 2024, after the club selected him on Dec. 19, 2023. He made his first MLS start on April 27, 2024, against the Seattle Sounders, playing 75 minutes.

Murrell scored his first career goal on May 4, 2024, in the 33rd minute of a 2-2 draw with the Philadelphia Union at Audi Field. He finished his rookie season with one goal and three assists in 27 appearances, including six starts, totaling 866 minutes. He also made three appearances in the 2024 Leagues Cup.

In 2025, Murrell scored two goals and recorded one assist in 24 MLS regular-season appearances, totaling 865 minutes. He added one goal in two Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup appearances. His sophomore season included a bicycle-kick goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time on March 1, 2025, at Soldier Field, helping D.C. United earn a 2-2 draw against the Chicago Fire.

In the current season, he made eight appearances off the bench and recorded an assist in a comeback win over Orlando City SC. He also made one U.S. Open Cup appearance.

D.C. United Transfers Murrell to Falkirk Football Club
