D.C. United Heads to Yankee Stadium to Take on NYCFC

After shutting out the defending MLS Cup champions Atlanta United 2-0 at Audi Field to open the season, D.C. Untied hits the road for the first time this season. They head up to the Bronx at Yankee Stadium where they’ll take on New York City FC. NYCFC has always been a force in the Eastern Conference so this will provide a good road test for the Black and Red. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.

D.C. United got goals from Paul Arriola and Luciano Acosta in the win. NYCFC will enter this game determined to get a win in front of their home fans after they had a 2-0 lead over Orlando City SC on the road only to squander it resulting in a 2-2 draw. Ebenezer Ofori and Alexander Ring had the goals for NYCFC. New York will also have different look this season after their star player David Villa left during the offseason.

The last time these two teams met was on the penultimate game of the regular season at Audi Field which resulted in a 3-1 victory for the Black and Red. D.C. United has yet to win on the pitch of Yankee Stadium. Last season the teams played to a 1-1 draw in the Bronx. No better time than now to end this slide and start 2-0 which they will look to do
