D.C. United gets first win of the season

D.C. United defeated Inter Miami CF on Saturday afternoon at Audi Field 2-1 for their first win of the season. It was the first time these two met on the MLS pitch.

D.C. United’s only lineup change was Yamil Asad in the game replacing an injured Ulises Segura.

Rodolfo Pizarro struck first for the first ever goal in Inter Miami’s history in the second minute. 1-0 was the score at the half.

In the second half Yamil Asad struck on the PK in the 59th minute to level the score. Edison Flores was brought down in the box which resulted in the penalty.

The Black and Red took the lead thanks to Frederic Brillant in the 61st minute on a beautiful rebound off the post.

“I came in at the right time and took my chance, and fortunately I scored. I think they were ready for the cutback cross and it led me to score. I am happy for the result as well because it was necessary for us to bounce back after last week, especially here in front of our supporters,” Brillant told the media after the match.

D.C. United will take on FC Cincinnati in their next match on March 14.
