D.C. United escapes Portland with 1-0 win

D.C. United has turned it on lately and have now won two matches in a row. On Sunday afternoon, they took care of the Portland Timbers 1-0 on the road.

On a cross from midfielder Ulises Segura, Timbers defender Bill Tuiloma knocked the ball into his own goal in the 24th minute.

That strike would be all the Black and Red needed despite being outshot 23-7. D.C. United would hang on for a much needed win to keep themselves in good playoff positioning. They’ll take on the Seattle Sounders next Sunday night at Audi Field.
