D.C. United concludes road trip in Houston

D.C. United will finish their brief two-game road trip in Houston, Texas, with the goal of lighting up the scoreboard against the Dynamo.

The Black and Red are coming off a scoreless draw against Toronto FC and a frustrating offensive night against Sporting KC that took until the 78th minute to break through.

Now, their next test is a team that is fourth in the Western Conference with a 6-2-2 mark with 20 points. To make things even more challenging for D.C. United, the Dynamo have not lost at home all season.

These teams last met in March, which resulted in a 2-2 draw. Luciano Acosta scored a clutch goal late in the game to get the Black and Red important early points to begin the season. We all know the surge when Audi Field opened, but that does not happen without that March draw to at least come away with a point.

Even though D.C. United has struggled offensively, their defense has been stellar. It has started and ended with Bill Hamid, who seems to have recorded clean sheet after clean sheet throughout the 2019 season. The star goalkeeper recorded his MLS-leading seventh shutout Wednesday night.

The Dynamo, like United, are coming off a draw themselves from Wednesday night. Theirs was 1-1 against the Portland Timbers at home.

Kickoff is at 8:30 p.m. on FloFC.
