Coppin State University women’s volleyball defeated Norfolk State, 3-0, on September 27, 2026, at the James D. Gill Health & Physical Education Building in Norfolk, Virginia. The Eagles won 25-14, 25-21 and 25-11 to extend their winning streak to nine matches.
The victory improved Coppin State to 10-5 overall and 2-0 in MEAC play. Norfolk State fell to 3-11 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Deviana Walker leads Coppin State attack
Deviana Walker led all players with 15 kills and a .625 hitting percentage. Ivanna Luna added eight kills, while Cherisse Atilano recorded six and Rori Gray contributed five.
Coppin State hit .376 as a team, recording 43 kills on 85 attempts with 11 errors. Norfolk State finished with a .084 hitting percentage.
Eva Rovello directed the Eagles’ offense with 36 assists, one kill and one ace. Andrea Cintron recorded five service aces, while Coco Figueroa added two aces and a match-high 20 digs.
Coppin State University women’s volleyball returns home
Coppin State opened the match with a 25-14 victory after hitting .286 and holding Norfolk State to a .107 hitting percentage. The Eagles then won the second set, 25-21, before closing the sweep with a 25-11 third-set victory while hitting .417.
Coppin State is scheduled to host Loyola Maryland on Tuesday, September 29, at 6 p.m. The match will be the Eagles’ first home contest of the season.
