The Coppin State University women’s volleyball team defeated South Carolina State 3-0 on Friday night at Dukes Gymnasium in Orangeburg, S.C., extending its winning streak to a school-record 11 matches. Coppin State won 25-16, 25-15 and 25-18 to improve to 12-5 overall and 3-0 in the MEAC.
Coco Figueroa recorded a match-high 18 digs and reached 1,502 career digs in the victory. The senior from Bayamon, Puerto Rico ranks third in Coppin State history, seventh in MEAC history and ninth among active NCAA Division I players in career digs, according to the source.

The victory moved Coppin State past its previous record of 10 consecutive wins. That mark had been set three times over the previous five years before the Eagles established the new school standard against South Carolina State.
Kayden Cupid and Deviana Walker recorded 11 kills each, while Cherisse Atilano added eight, Ivanna Luna had seven and McKenzie Parks finished with four. Coppin State outhit South Carolina State .376 to .095.
Eva Rovello Leads Coppin State Attack
Eva Rovello recorded 33 assists, three aces, two kills and five digs. Parks led Coppin State with two blocks, and Kendall Minta added one block.
Coppin State pulled away in the opening set with a 7-1 run that created a 9-3 lead. The Eagles later led 24-13 before Isabella Ortiz finished the set with a kill after South Carolina State scored three consecutive points.
South Carolina State opened the second set with an 8-6 lead, but three consecutive kills from Parks put Coppin State ahead. Two South Carolina State errors and a kill from Andrea Cintron gave the Eagles a two-set lead.
Coppin State scored seven of the first eight points in the third set and held a 21-17 advantage late. Walker followed with two kills, and Rovello closed out the sweep with an ace.

Coppin State was scheduled to travel to NC Central at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 4, for the Battle of the Eagles. No live stream was scheduled to be available for the match.
