College Lax Preview: #1 Loyola (2-0) at #19 Rutgers (2-1)

On Saturday at 2:00 P.M. the Loyola Greyhounds get their first test as the number one team in the country as they travel to Highpoint.com stadium to take on the Rutgers Scarlett Night. Rutgers will be the third ranked team in a row to challenge the Greyhounds on this young season, already having disposed of Virginia and Johns Hopkins.

Loyola’s offense is led by Tewaaraton Award favorite, Senior, Pat Spencer, who has eight goals and six assists on the season. Sophomore Kevin Lindley has nine goals in the first two games. Rutgers is paced by Junior Kieran Mullins with twelve goals and five assists. Sophomore Adam Charalambides has tallied ten goals and three assists.

On Defense, Loyola is led by Ryan McNulty, who has nine ground balls on the season. Goalie Jacob Stover has saved 59% of shots against on the year. Rutgers Senior Garrett Michaeli has won thirteen ground balls on the season and Freshman Goalkeeper Ben Pounds has saved half of the shots thrown his way.

Inside Lacrosse gives Loyola a 59% chance of winning the game with a predicted score of 17-11. In order for Rutgers to pull the upset, they need to stay close early, as Loyala has made a living this year jumping out early. They will need to execute a tight game plan to contain Pat Spencer and the Freshman net minder will have to step up with big saves.

This game will be nationally televised on the Big Ten Network and can be streamed on their streaming service. In addition, you can listen to the game on Lacrossetalkradio or WRSU 88.7 FM.
