Cobb faces former team in opener of three game set

BALTIMORE, MD– 7:05pm EDT- Oriole Park at Camden Yards– Baltimore Orioles Alex Cobb will take on his former team the Tampa Bay Rays, Tuesday, in the opener of a three game set. The Rays are coming off their first three game sweep of the season vs the Minnesota Twins. While the Orioles are coming off a lazy four game set vs Indians.

Cobb has started the season struggling due to a late signing, his numbers are sky high with a 15.43 ERA, 4K, and 2 losses. Last start in Detroit, Cobb took the lost after allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 3 1/3IP. Looking to get back to normal it doesn’t come at a better time to take on his former team. To his advantage Cobb hasn’t seen a majority of the Rays lineup. The only player who has and seen production is Brad Miller, hitting .429 in 7 AB against Cobb.

Taking the mound for the Rays is RHP Jake Faria, bringing in a 1-1 record with a 5.82 ERA, and 15K. Faria will take on a struggling offense of the Orioles. Seeing success vs Faria is limited in the Orioles lineup, only three hitters have seen him more then once. Adam Jones batting .400 in 10AB, Manny Machado in 10AB is hitting .200 and then finally Trey Mancini is hitting .250 in 8AB.

Orioles offense seems to get hits but never have stringed together a handful in a row, Baltimore ranks 12th in runners left on base averaging 6.87 per game. Hopefully for the Orioles, Mancini will be back in the Orioles lineup Tuesday and will help get the Orioles in better position to score. Leading the team in batting AVG, HR, RBI’s, OBP, & Hits Machado will need some help from his teammates to get the Orioles back in the win column.
