The Chesapeake Baysox swept the Harrisburg Senators in an August 5 doubleheader in Bowie, Maryland, winning the opener 8-1 and the second game 2-1. Wehiwa Aloy hit his first two Double-A home runs in Game 1, while six Chesapeake pitchers combined to allow two earned runs across 14 innings.
Chesapeake entered the doubleheader 20-15 in the second half and 49-54 overall. The Baysox used four home runs to win the opener. Then a third-inning doubles rally and five scoreless innings from Christian Herberholz secured the second game.
Wehiwa Aloy Hits Two Home Runs in Game 1
Harrisburg took a 1-0 lead on an Ethan Petry RBI single in the first inning. However, the Senators could not hold the advantage. After Doug Hodo and Brandon Butterworth singled, Aloy launched a 421-foot home run to left field that scored both runners and put Chesapeake ahead.
Aloy added his second home run of the game five pitches after Butterworth hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning. The blast came against Harrisburg left-handed starter Alex Clemmey with a reported exit velocity of 112 miles per hour.
The performance gave Aloy his first two Double-A home runs and his second professional multi-home run game. He went 2-for-4 with four RBIs in the opener after hitting 15 home runs for High-A Frederick to start the season. MLB.com ranks Aloy as the Baltimore Orioles’ No. 5 prospect.
Anderson De Los Santos also homered for Chesapeake, hitting a two-run shot in the third inning for his 10th home run of the season. Butterworth’s two-run homer in the fourth was his 10th of the year and completed Chesapeake’s four-home run performance.
Chesapeake Baysox Pitching Limits Harrisburg
Sebastian Gongora started the opener for Chesapeake and allowed one run and four hits over five innings with three strikeouts. The left-hander retired his final 12 batters, while Gerald Ogando and Alex Pham each pitched a scoreless inning.
Herberholz continued the strong pitching in Game 2. The right-handed starter worked five scoreless innings, allowed three hits and no walks, and recorded three strikeouts in his longest outing with the Baysox in 2026.
Harrisburg cut Chesapeake’s lead to 2-1 in the sixth inning when Braden Boissiere hit a solo home run off Keagan Gillies. Brock Moore then made his organizational debut in a save situation, faced one batter above the minimum, recorded his first strikeout in the Orioles organization, and earned his first save.
Three Doubles Give Chesapeake the Game 2 Lead
Chesapeake built its Game 2 advantage with three doubles in a four-batter span during the third inning. Frederick Bencosme began the sequence with a leadoff double and Tavian Josenberger followed with an RBI double that put the Baysox in front. Aron Estrada added another double during the rally, giving him a team-leading 19 doubles for the season.
The two runs held up as Chesapeake’s pitchers kept Harrisburg off the scoreboard until Boissiere’s sixth-inning home run. Across the doubleheader, six Chesapeake pitchers combined for a 1.29 ERA while allowing two earned runs in 14 innings.
