The Chesapeake Baysox defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 3-1 on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, Maryland, behind five scoreless innings from right-handed starter JT Quinn. In his fourth Double-A start, Quinn allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five.
Chesapeake is 4-0 in games started by Quinn this season, and Quinn owns a 2-0 record. The Baltimore Orioles’ No. 14 prospect, according to MLB.com, has a 2.50 ERA at the Double-A level after allowing five earned runs in 18 innings.
Baysox Build Early Lead
Vance Honeycutt doubled with two outs in the second inning and scored on a Victor Figueroa RBI single. Frederick Bencosme added a leadoff home run in the fourth inning for his 12th hom run of the season.
The Baysox extended their lead in the sixth inning against Portland left-hander Jeremy Wu-Yelland. Griff O’Ferrall singled and later scored when Tavian Josenberger delivered an RBI single.
Pitching Holds Advantage
Jeisson Cabrera followed Quinn with one scoreless inning and helped end the sixth with a one-four-three double play. Alex Pham struck out the first three batters he faced, and Brock Moore also pitched for Chesapeake.
Portland cut the deficit in the eighth inning when Henry Godbout, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI, singled home a run. Ryan Long then faced the minimum in the ninth inning and struck out two batters for his first professional save since 2023.
Long also earned his 14th scoreless Double-A outing of the season. The Chesapeake Baysox are the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, while the Portland Sea Dogs are the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
Baysox Set for Saturday Game
The Chesapeake Baysox will continue their final regular-season homestand against the Portland Sea Dogs on Saturday night at Prince George’s Stadium. Pat Reilly is scheduled to start for Chesapeake against Portland right-hander Alex Bouchard.
Reilly is listed at 0-2 with a 4.33 ERA in Double-A, while Bouchard is listed at 0-0 with a 15.00 ERA. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
