Caps to turn to Grubauer for a bit? Might be for the best

Braden Holtby’s win on Saturday, outdoors against the Toronto Maple Leafs was his first win in seven tries breaking a six game winless streak. That streak was the longest of his NHL career. But that number seven would become even more of a factor on Tuesday night. For the seventh time this season Braden Holtby was lifted from a game in favor of Phillip Grubauer. Grubi has looked the part of being a starter here of late. Grubauer, has won his last four starts, and he had 148 saves on 156 shots for a .949 save percentage over his past six appearances leading into last nights entrance midway through the game. Since the start of February, Phillip has a record of 4-1-0 and a save percentage of .935.

Braden Holtby has had three straight seasons with a save percentage of at least .920, and as of today March seventh, he has a .907 save percentage. This is the lowest of Braden Holtby’s career.

Grubauer gives the Caps a better chance of winning than Braden Holtby right now. The Capitals just need to let their number one goalie reset. They have the luxury to have a very reliable and great backup goaltender in Grubi. They should use him to their advantage and try to grab a few more wins.

What’s next?
The Next game takes place Thursday night in Los Angeles, California. The home of the Los Angeles Kings. Expect Phillip Grubauer to be between the pipes.
