Caps face the Blue Jackets on the final road game of the pre season
Tonight, the Washington Capitals are facing the Columbus Blue Jackets on the final game of three game road trip. Due to this being the second to last game of the pre season, its serving as a dress up game for what the regular season.
Alex Ovechkin is playing in his second game this pre season. Connor McMichael who had two points in the overtime win against Boston, is skating on the top line with Alex. Ethen Frank who has already been sent back to Hershey, is getting a game sweater for tonight, just to get a little bit more experience under his belt. Matthew Philips who scored the overtime goal in the last game, with a minute left, is also getting a game sweater.
In goal tonight, Darcy Kuemper, and Charlie Lindgren are the expected starters and back up. Kuemper who let in two goals on Boston’s first two shots, is looking to get back in mid season form, and get better with stops.
Despite Ovi playing tonight, a lot of the regulars like T.J. Oshie, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nicklus Backstrom, etc, are not getting game sweaters in order to let the coaching staff get a look at some of the younger players on the team and who are fighting for roster spots.
