Caps face Ottawa, back in D.C. after a short road trip
The Washington Capitals are back home and ready to face Ottawa on the first of a back to back set. The team has been dealing with multiple injuries and have recalled four players from the Hershey Bears. It will be interesting to see how the team gels with the new players on the ice. The team has also picked up scoring and has been finding the back of the net quite efficiently the past few games.
The scoring for the team has been up as Alex Ovechkin has been lighting the lamp recently, and now sits at 57 goals to break the scoring record. This has lit a fire under the rest of the team as multiple players in the top 6 have elevated their game recently. This allowed the team to get points in the last four games and move up in the standings.
The goaltending has stepped up but continues to be a very suspect area of the game. While the defense has stepped up to help out the onslought of shots, the goaltenders would get, the goaltending continues to be a weak link. There are a few soft goals that should be stopped that somehow find their way in the back of the net.
