Capitals Vs. Toronto Maple Leafs: February 22, 2019

The Washington Capitals beat the Maple Leafs by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. Statistically, Braden Holtby would go on to make 40 saves, but it would be simply enough as the Maple Leafs scored in the second period.

The Capitals stand at 34-20-7 and are currently in second place in the Metropolitan Division. On the other side, the Maple Leafs are 36-20-4 and are currently in third place in the Atlantic Division.

During the second period Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his 43rd goal of the season. The goal was scored at 3 minutes and 54 seconds. Also, forward Brett Connolly scored his 15th goal of the season assisted by Lars Eller (18th assist of the season) and Tom Wilson (14th assist of the season) and the goal was scored at 12 minutes and 7 seconds. During the third period Andreas Johnson of the Maple Leafs scored his 16 goal of the season assisted by Austin Mathews (17th assist of the season) and the goal was at 4 minutes and 23 seconds. Tom Wilson scored his 16th goal of the season at 6 minutes and 46 seconds. Maple Leafs John Tavares scored his 34th goal of the season at 19 minutes and 27 seconds.

With winning, the Caps head to Buffalo to play the Sabres on Saturday afternoon.
