Capitals vs San Jose Sharks Recap: February 14, 2019

The Washington Capitals beat the San Jose Sharks by a score of 5-1 on Thursday. Statistically, Braden Hotlby would go on to make 25 saves, but it would be simply enough as the Sharks scored in the first period.

The Capitals stand at 32-19-7 and are currently in second place in the Metropolitan division. On the other side, the Sharks and stand at 34-17-7 and are currently in second place in the Pacific Division.

During the first period at 2 minutes and 6 seconds San Jose Sharks Kevin Labanc scored his 11th goal of the season to make the score 1 to 0. The Capitals first goal was scored by forward T.J. Oshie, and it was assisted by Alex Ovechkin (27th assist of the season) and John Carlson (42nd assist of the season) with 3 minutes and 38 seconds in the first period. After that, forward Jakub Vrana scored his 18th goal of the season which was assisted by T.J. Oshie (18th assist of the season) and Nickolas Backstrom (41st assist of the season). Jakub Vrana’s goal was at 11 minutes and 33 seconds of the first period. During the second period, T. J. Oshie scored his second goal of the game at 18 minutes and 2 seconds. Also, during the second period captain Alex Ovechkin, scored his 39th goal of the season assisted by Evegeny Kuznetkov (39th assist of the season) and Tom Wilson (13th assist of the season). Alex Ovechkin’s goal happened at 4 minutes and 14 seconds. Lastly, Tom Wilson scored his 15th goal which was unassisted at 17 minutes and 25 seconds during the third period.

With a win, the Capitals will head to Anaheim to face the Ducks on Sunday night at Honda Center.
