Capitals and Bears both score victories, both play again tonight

The weakness of the Bears so far this season, other then goaltending has been the powerplay. The Bears turned that around last night against the hot Providence Bruins. The Bears got power play goals from Liam O’Brien (first goal of the season), Travis Boyd (first goal of the season) , and Connor Hobbs who scored his first proffesional goal as a Hershey Bear. After losing Chandler Stephenson, and veteran Anthony Peluso this week to recall to Washington the Bears needed a nice shot in the arm. A win against the Bruins was just what the doctor order. We will see if they can keep that streak together tonight as the Bears take the 4-4-0-1 Hartford Wolf Pack. Hartford is coming off a win of their own against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

The Caps game last night in Edmonton did not start out well. The Capitals were down 2-0 with less then three minutes left in he first period. But five unanswered goals would be the cure Washington needed. Devante Smith-Pelly scored a beautiful one timer from Carlson cutting the deficit to one at 2-1. Eller would tie the game midway through the second period as the only goal of the period. Kuznetsov scored two goals of his own both in the third period to make the score 4-2. Jay Beagle would ice the game with 19 seconds left to score his second of the season, an end the game at 5-2.

The Capitals face off tonight against the Calgary flames who had an off day on Saturday, but are coming off a loss to the Dallas stars on Friday night. I would not be surprised to see Braden Holtby go back between the pipes tonight against the Flames as the Capitals look to get on a hot streak after their blowout loss Thursday to the Canucks.
