BYU BLOWS OUT NAVY IN A CLINICAL PERFORMANCE 55-3

Coach Ken Niumatalolo took a gamble when he decided that Navy wouldn’t hit until a week before the opening game. That gamble didn’t pay off as BYU dominated Navy on Monday night. The Cougars led 31-0 at halftime and never looked back. Tyler Allgeier had 14 carries for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns, Gunner Romney had 4 catches for 134 yards and a touchdown. Zach Wilson was 13-18 for 232 yards with one touchdown and one interception

Dalen Morris struggled in his first start at quarterback for Navy. He had seven rushes for two yards while going 2-4 for 16 yards passing. Perry Olsen took over at halftime. The offense moved the ball to the BYU 20 on the first drive before turning it over on downs. BYU were balanced on offense with 279 yards passing and 301 yards on the ground. Navy got over 100 yards rushing after the game was decided. The Midshipmen had 149 yards of total offense. The Cougars had a 15 minute advantage in time of possession. Linebacker Diego Fagot had 13 tackles for Navy defense.

Both teams are off this weekend. The Mids open AAC play at Tulane on September 18th. That game starts at noon and will be on ABC. The Green Wave have played well against the Navy offense in recent matchups. BYU goes to Army West Point on the 18th.
