Bowie State Clinches CIAA Northern Division Title, Beats Elizabeth City State 49-7
The Bowie State Bulldogs were clicking on all cylinders as they honored their seniors in their third and final home game of the season today against the Elizabeth City State Vikings.
Bowie State wastes no time taking the lead and putting the game away. Bowie State scored 21 points in the first quarter and 21 more in the second to take a 42-0 lead at halftime. From there the Bulldogs coasted to a 49-7 victory to clinch the CIAA Northern division title for the third time in four seasons.
Senior QB Amir Hall celebrated his final game at Bulldog Stadium by throwing for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns, including a 5 yard pass to Daryl Jasper in the second quarter to break the CIAA passing touchdowns record with his 97th touchdown. Hall will have a chance at the CIAA passing yards record next week in the CIAA Championship.
An unsung hero of this Bulldogs unit has been the defense, who has allowed a grand total of just 2 touchdowns over the last three games against Virginia Union, Lincoln, and Elizabeth City State, propelling Bowie State to their second four game win streak of the season.
Bowie State will take on Fayetteville State in the CIAA Championship next week in Salem, Virginia.
