Bernhardt Leads Maryland Over Michigan 16-8; Hopkins Wins 12-10
Maryland continued its undefeated season with a 16-8 win over Michigan in the Big Ten semifinals. Jared Bernhardt became the Terps all time points leader with 263. He had a career high 8 goals and 2 assists in the game. Logan Wisnaukas had 4 assists while Griffin Brown, Bubba Fairman, & Eric Malever had two goals each.
Shots were 46-32, ground balls were 31-25, and face-offs were 15-12. All of those were in favor of the Terps. Michigan (3-9) were led by Josh Zawada and Jake Bonomi had two goals each. Maryland (11-0) will play for the Big Ten championship on Saturday night at 8 on BTN.
They will play Johns Hopkins for the title. The Blue Jays continued their good run of form with a 12-10 win over Rutgers. Freshman Johnathan Pleshko who had 5 goals for the season entering tonight had four tonight. Garrett Degnon added three including a missile in the 4th quarter to extend the Hopkins lead to 12-9.
This team had every reason to quit after Maryland came back to beat them in the last game of the regular season. Instead of doing that they won at Penn State on Saturday and beat Rutgers today. A key to this resurgence is Tim Marcille who made his first career start in the second Maryland game and hasn’t looked back. He robbed Kieran Mullins in a one on one chance tonight when the game was on the line.
