Bears fall short to Lehigh Valley in 5-4 loss
Friday night saw The Hershey Bears yet again in Lehigh Valley to take on their long time Rival the Phantoms. It would start out in the first period with Lehigh’s first goal at 4:09 in the firs period when Tyler Goulbourne would sneak one past Pheonix Copley making the game 1-0 in the Phantoms favor. With just under three minutes left in the period when Anthony Peluso would make a sweet pass to John Albert at 17:17 in the period the score would even up 1-1. Unfortunately, not even two minutes later Lehigh would pull ahead when Adam Corie scored at 19:02 in the first period.
The second period would be reminiscent of the first with Lehigh scoring again just over four minutes into the period. Mike Vecchione would get the goal to make the game 3-1. Phil Varone would bring the score to 4-1 at 15:47 and the game would head into second intermission.
The third period would open up with Lehigh scoring yet another goal just one minute and twenty four seconds in, as Greg Carey scored his thirteenth goal of the season. Lucas Johansen would score thirty seconds later at 1:54 making the game 5-2. Wayne Simpson and Zach Sill would gain an assist on the play. Mathias Bau would get his eighth goal of the season at 6:10 bringing the bears that much closer to tying up the game. Wayne Simpson and Zach Sill would again add to their points by assisting the goal. Aaron Ness scores again for the bears at 17:32 in the third making it a one game goal while Wayne Simpson got yet another assist for his 11th of the season along. Chris Bourque would also tally a point on the fourth goal of the game. Even after an exciting end to the third period for the Bears they fell short and lost 5-4.
Saturday night find the Bears back at home yet again matching up against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
