Army Defeats Navy, 17-10
The Army Black Knights defeated the Navy Midshipmen in the 119th meeting of the service academies on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. Army improves to 10-2 on the season. The Black Knights head to the Armed Forces Bowl on Dec. 22 to face Houston. Navy finishes their season 3-10.
Army jumped to an early lead less than three minutes into the game and held the advantage the rest of the game. Navy struggled offensively all day, only reviving in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, turnovers and penalties ended the Midshipmen momentum and their year.
Kelvin Hopkins Jr. had a strong day at quarterback for Army. He completed four of nine passes for 61 yards and ran for 64 yards and two TDs. Kell Walker added 56 yards on the ground on his five carries and had two receptions for 30 more yards.
Zach Abey had a rough outing under center for Navy. The starting quarterback went 0-5 on pass attempts and threw two crucial interceptions. Garret Lewis took over late in the game and completed five of 11 passes for 81 yards. Malcolm Perry led the Midshipmen rushing with 52 yards on six carries. Keoni-Kordell Makekau had two catches for 52 yards.
