Anthony Rendon goes to Los Angeles Angels on 7-year, $245 million deal

It may not have been the news Nationals fans wanted to hear from the Winter Meetings, but Anthony Rendon’s free agency is over. The coveted third baseman has agreed to a seven-year, $245 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels. With this completed, the Nationals must now look for help at third base, be that through Josh Donaldson, Kris Bryant, Nolan Arenado, or in-house help from largely minor league players such as Adrian Sanchez and Carter Kieboom.

Rendon completes his 2019 season with a .319 batting average, 34 home runs, 126 runs batted in, and five stolen bases. His career as of now is .290, 136 home runs, 546 RBIs, and 45 stolen bases. His biggest achievement, of course, is helping the Nationals win their first World Series championship, something he and his fans will remember forever. Now that he is off to Anaheim, he will play alongside big names such as Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, and Shohei Ohtani.

We at Maryland Sports Blog wish nothing but the best in Rendon’s next step of his baseball career. Nationals fans can see him play against his old teammates at Angel Stadium May 11-13, or if they prefer to be closer to home, the Angels will play the Orioles at Camden Yards May 8-10.
