AAA Norfolk Wins Both Player and Pitcher of the Month Titles
The Norfolk Tides, AAA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, were well represented in April’s AAA awards. Heston Kjerstad and Cade Povich both took home AAA’s International League Player and Pitcher of the Month titles, respectively.
Tides’ first baseman/outfielder Heston Kjerstad recorded impressive hitting statistics throughout April. He batted .324/.420/.770, leading the league in home runs (10), RBIs (26), and slugging percentage (.770). His performance prompted his well-anticipated promotion to the Orioles’ main roster on April 22. He is currently trying to settle into Baltimore’s right field hole.
On the other side of talent, Norfolk left-hander Cade Povich secured the Pitcher of the Month title. Throughout April, Povich had a 2-1 record with a notable 1.03 ERA over five starts. He had a .116 average against him, the lowest of all International League pitchers with 3+ starts.
