South Carolina Stingrays Principal Owner Todd Halloran Makes $25,000 LOWVELO Donation

South Carolina Stingrays Principal Owner Todd Halloran made a $25,000 donation to LOWVELO after Stingrays players and coaches joined him for a one-hour spin class supporting cancer research at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. The workout took place at the MUSC Wellness Center in Charleston and included 25 players along with the coaches.

Halloran also planned to cycle 50 miles through Charleston County during the LOWVELO ride on Saturday, November 7. LOWVELO is an annual cycling fundraising event supporting cancer research at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.

Halloran made his personal donation in recognition of the 25 players who joined him and the coaches for the fundraising workout. LOWVELO offers rides of 7, 14, 27, 50 and 80 miles, bringing together riders, volunteers, sponsors and staff members in support of cancer research. According to the organizers, 100% of every participant-raised dollar from LOWVELO goes directly to cancer research at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in South Carolina.

Todd Halloran Highlights Team Effort

Halloran said the spin class showed how the Stingrays could work together for a cause beyond hockey.

“It’s a team effort,” said Halloran. “All these guys are skilled individuals, but they work better as a team. And we were a team today fighting for a bigger cause than hockey. I really appreciated the Stingrays coaches and players coming out, taking time out of their day, getting a little workout in, and helping me support the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.”

The players and coaches also were preparing for the South Carolina Stingrays’ game against the Orlando Solar Bears. The Stingrays were scheduled to host Orlando at North Charleston Coliseum on Friday, November 6, at 7:05 p.m. for Jets and Vets Night presented by Charleston Southern University.

South Carolina Stingrays Plan Cancer Awareness Night

The South Carolina Stingrays are scheduled to hold Rays Cancer Awareness Night presented by MUSC Health on February 27, 2027. The event will focus on raising awareness and supporting the fight against cancer.
