Mount St. Mary’s University women’s bowling team won all five matches on the opening day of the Bud Whitman Memorial on Oct. 10, 2026, at Deptford Lanes in Deptford, New Jersey. Mount St. Mary’s averaged 192.4 pins per game and finished the day atop the field.
The No. 19 Mount St. Mary’s faced Delaware State, Wilmington, Coppin State, Wagner and No. 10 Sacred Heart. Delaware State was receiving votes in the rankings, while Wilmington, Coppin State and Wagner were unranked.
Mount St. Mary’s Women’s Bowling Posts Five Wins
Mount St. Mary’s opened with a 976-890 win over Delaware State, followed by a 971-765 victory against Wilmington. The team then defeated Coppin State, 932-719, before earning a 980-536 win over Wagner.
Mount St. Mary’s closed the day with a 951-777 victory over Sacred Heart. The team scored between 925 and 1,000 pins in each game during the five-match run.
Leah Varela Leads Individual Standings
Leah Varela led individual play by totaling 1,120 pins through five games, which gave her a 224 pins average. This placed her first in the field after the opening day. Amber Benson also finished among the top performers with a 983 series, placing her fourth individually.
Kamyrn Brennaman made her Mount St. Mary’s debut by starting the third game and scoring 217 pins. Madison Smith made her first appearance in the second game, recording 210 pins.
