Stevenson University women’s soccer fell 1-0 to Alvernia University on Friday evening at Alvernia Turf Field in Reading, Pennsylvania. Faith Greenday scored the only goal at 75:32 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth match, sending the Stevenson Stangs to 0-2-0 in conference play.
Alvernia Breaks Scoreless Tie
Stevenson came out with an aggressive offensive approach, with Kailyn Beall recording shots in the first and fourth minutes. Madison Rytina added a shot in the sixth minute, and Beall put another attempt on goal in the 14th minute.
Sophia Valenzano made two saves for the Stevenson Stangs, including one in the 11th minute, as both teams remained scoreless through halftime. Faith Moroney added a Stevenson shot in the 31st minute.
Alvernia University finally broke the deadlock at 75:32 when Faith Greenday scored to give the Alvernia Wolves a 1-0 lead. Stevenson responded with shots from Grace Fay in the 63rd minute, Beall in the 73rd, and Karly Sheahan in the 89th, but the Stangs could not find an equalizer.
