Salisbury University Men’s Soccer Upsets No. 22 Johns Hopkins 2-1 Behind Brogan Eastlack Goal

Salisbury University Men’s Soccer defeated No. 22 Johns Hopkins, 2-1, on Wednesday at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex in Salisbury, Md. The victory improved Salisbury to 9-1-2, while Johns Hopkins fell to 7-3-2. The victory was an upset over the nationally ranked Blue Jays.

Salisbury Takes Halftime Lead

Brogan Eastlack opened the scoring in the 37th minute, with Noah Blankensop providing the assist. The goal was Eastlack’s second career score, while Blankensop recorded his first point of the season.

Salisbury held a 6-0 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks at halftime. The Sea Gulls carried a 1-0 lead into the break.

Brunetti Scores Salisbury’s Second Goal

David Brunetti extended Salisbury’s lead early in the second half, with Dale Gordon recording the assist. Brunetti’s goal ended a six-game scoring drought and gave him 12 career goals.

Gordon made his 66th consecutive start and recorded his ninth career assist. Salisbury finished with seven shots on goal, while Johns Hopkins had two.

Sea Gulls Hold Off Johns Hopkins

Clif Nehman made one save in the victory, including a pivotal stop on Johns Hopkins’ first shot on target in the 74th minute when he came off his line to make the save. Dylan Ellis later scored for the Blue Jays, with Alexander Ball providing the assist.

Salisbury held on for the 2-1 victory over Johns Hopkins. The Salisbury men’s soccer program competes in NCAA Division III and has primary membership in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference.

Senior Day Ahead for Salisbury

Salisbury will host St. Mary’s (Md.) on Saturday at 4 p.m. for Senior Day. The program will recognize 11 seniors.
