Johns Hopkins men’s soccer falls to Salisbury, 2-1, ending six-game unbeaten streak

Johns Hopkins University men’s soccer fell 2-1 to Salisbury on Wednesday afternoon in Salisbury, Maryland, ending the Blue Jays’ six-game unbeaten streak. Johns Hopkins dropped to 7-3-2 overall, while Salisbury improved to 9-1-2.

Salisbury Takes Two-Goal Lead

Salisbury opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Brogan Eastlack headed in a long throw from Noah Blankensop at the back post. The Sea Gulls doubled their lead two minutes into the second half when David Brunetti scored from 15 yards after receiving a pass from Dale Gordon.

Johns Hopkins had a scoring opportunity in the 64th minute. Brendan Listzwan beat two defenders to a ball from Jason Pan, but a Salisbury defender blocked his shot.

Dylan Ellis Brings Johns Hopkins Within One

Dylan Ellis put Johns Hopkins on the scoreboard in the 77th minute with his third goal of the season. Alexander Ball assisted on the play after Ellis headed a long clearing ball from John Ghanem to Ball, who drew two defenders before crossing back to Ellis for a shot under the crossbar from 20 yards.

Salisbury finished with a 12-10 advantage in shots and a 9-3 edge in corner kicks. John Ghanem made five saves for Johns Hopkins, while Clif Nehman made one save for Salisbury.

Johns Hopkins Hosts Washington College Next

The Blue Jays are scheduled to host Washington College on Saturday, October 10, at 7 p.m. in a Centennial Conference contest.
