Howard Community College Men’s Soccer Rolls Past College of Southern Maryland 8-0 for 10th Win

Howard Community College men’s soccer defeated the College of Southern Maryland Hawks 8-0 Tuesday evening in La Plata, Maryland, for its 10th win of the season. Seven different Dragons scored as Howard Community College improved to 10-1-2.

Howard Community College outshot the College of Southern Maryland 52-1 and held a 13-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Dragons also recorded 36 shots on goal to one for the Hawks and led 3-0 at halftime.

Howard Community College Builds Halftime Lead

Daniel Barrett opened the scoring in the 15th minute on a header assisted by Yeabsira Tesfaye. Biruk Yitayew added a goal in the 39th minute off a pass from Nicholas Mirecki before Tesfaye scored in the 43rd minute after a pass from Kiar Sani.

Yitayew scored again in the 50th minute, with Tesfaye recording the assist. Gabriel Alejandro Vasquez added his second goal of the season in the 57th minute on a pass from Sani, and Nelson Hernandez scored in the 69th minute.

Dragons Complete 8-0 Victory

Carson Feeser, who had exited the game earlier with an injury, returned to action and scored in the 75th minute off an assist from Alonso Aguilar. Sani completed the scoring in the final minutes, with Feeser providing the assist.

Feeser and Tesfaye each finished with eight shots, six shots on goal, one goal and two assists. Hernandez recorded seven shots, six shots on goal and one goal, while Lucas Britos had six shots and four shots on goal. Jackson Costell and Ilia Likakis each took four shots, and Sani finished with two shots, one goal and two assists.

Fourteen different Howard Community College players recorded at least one shot, setting a new team season record. Alejandro Dealvarez made one save, and the game included 10 total fouls between the two teams.

Next Game for Howard Community College Men’s Soccer

Howard Community College will next play WVU Potomac State College on Thursday, October 8, at 5 p.m. The Dragons enter that game at 10-1-2 after the shutout victory.
